Before 2003 ...the poor sushi loving #Smithereen had no where to go ! Nowhere to quench their thirst with warm sake, nibble on little crunchy morsel's deep fried with tempura batter and slurp up noodley dishes ! Then on December 20 2003, tucked away in a cozy location between the local bus service and 7-11 opened the first BLUE FIN SUSHI by longtime #Smithers resident CINDY PALMER. 

Cindy PALMER - OWNER & CHEF is a  homegrown #Smithers senorita, who has over 30 years in the hospitality industry and is an excellent example of how hard work, determination and a knack for delivering a memorable dining experience are the recipe for a successful business in northern British Columbia ! BFS has been going strong for over a decade here in Smithers and we will are excited for the future of this growing restaurant/business !

Blue Fin Sushi - Smithers moved to their current location 1232 Main Street - Smithers in 2007 with double the seat capacity and tranquil vibe.  Just recently in 2013 - BLUE FIN SUSHI - Terrace opened it's doors to fellow sushi lovers at 4608 Lakelse Avenue in increasingly busy Terrace. 

Cindy and the BFS family created a very loyal fan following on the social media platforms and just recently released a TV commercial for the Northern BC communities. RODEO Sponsor FEATURE: Shooting Star Amusements - A Family Business !

The SRC is proud to have Shooting Star Amusements back on board for the 2014 Smithers Rodeo !

The Shooting Star Amusements have been a crowd favorite from the first time they came to Smithers and we cannot wait until the fleet of amusement rides, exciting games and yummy classic fair munchies arrive in August ! Be sure to give them a huge #Smithers welcome when you see them ! 

Here is a snippet of the history of Shooting Star Amusements when it was formed back in 2002 with owners Joe & Brenda .....

Like most kids growing up in Vancouver, the owners of Shooting Star Amusements worked at the Pacific National Exhibition while attending School. Joe Medeiros, the President, of Shooting Star Amusements enjoyed his first job as a ride operator at the PNE. Joe quickly worked his way up to being the Assistant Superintendent of Maintenance for Playland.

Joe soon discovered that he enjoyed traveling, as the PNE sent him to other Midway locations throughout Canada and the United States to consult and set up spectacular amusement rides and roller coasters.
After 4 years with WCA, Joe and Brenda decided to go off on their own and become independent contractors during the annual PNE.
In 1992 Joe and Brenda joined Castle Amusements to further expand their games operation. The owners of Castle Amusements retired in 2002, at which time Joe and Brenda had the opportunity to purchase the equipment owned by Castle. They amalgamated their games operation and formed the company Shooting Star Amusements.
